Health Coaching

Participants in my cooking classes often ask me “What’s next? Now that I have tried eating plant-based and have some great recipes under my belt, what do I do now to keep it up?”

For those who are ready to dive into plant-based eating and get serious about their health, I offer individualized 3-month and 6-month health coaching programs. Here’s a sampling of the services I offer:

  • Twice monthly 50-minute coaching sessions with email support between sessions
  • A variety of materials to support you, including recipes, food samples, books, and articles
  • Pantry/fridge makeover
  • Personalized grocery store tour
  • Private cooking classes

Choose the coaching program that works for your budget and calendar:

3-Month Coaching Program (6 sessions total) = $450

6-Month Coaching Program (12 sessions total + personalized grocery store tour OR pantry/fridge makeover OR a private cooking class) = $900

Testimonials from Health Coaching Clients:

“I would recommend Kara to anyone who wants to explore and/or transition to a plant based way of eating. My top three goals upon starting the  program were become aware/mindful of what I eat on a daily basis, exercise at least 3 times per week, and cook two vegan dishes per week. Kara was able to help me work toward these goals by: helping me “think outside of the box” by giving me new ideas for exercise, handouts for different topics and coping skills; acknowledged and encouraged, and praised the steps and strides I made along my journey of healthful eating and fitness.  She also shared simple recipes and gave me tips and tricks for recipe directions when I asked for help/guidance/suggestions. The biggest change I have noticed since beginning the program has been: I’ve become a mindful eater.  I only eat when “stomach hungry” and there’s no emotional eating anymore.  I enjoy cooking and eating at home/bringing my homemade food to work.  I rarely eat out anymore so I save lots of money. The most significant overall change I have noticed has been that I am exercising at least 3 times per week. I feel confident in eating a plant based way. I look forward to cooking new vegan recipes each week.  I have gained kitchen confidence! I was very touched that Kara would share personalized tips and related handouts for any concerns/issues that I talked about with her.  (i.e. when I expressed difficulty in drinking enough water, she shared a “water handout” with me.)  She went above and beyond to personalize my health coaching experience.” – Jessica

“I would recommend Kara to anyone interested in a nutrition coach. My top three goals upon starting the 6-month program were weight loss, improvement in blood pressure and help in transitioning into a mostly vegan diet. Kara was able to help me work toward these goals by giving me encouragement, helping me to see the positive side, helping me to know and understand primary foods and how it can affect how and what I eat, new recipes, ideas for food prep, ideas on how to involve my family in the food prep. I‘m preparing vegan/vegetarian foods for my family and have significantly reduced the purchase and consumption of flesh. I’ve learned how to make a really good tofu scramble that my family, including my husband, likes a lot. My mother recently made black bean burgers, which were excellent! The biggest tangible change I have noticed since beginning the program has been making changes in my primary foods; especially in the area of relationships (I’m getting out and meeting new people), education & spirituality (I’m taking classes at my church).” – Martha
